Getting Started

What is opusarte.com?
Opusarte.com is a new website aimed at lovers of opera, ballet, classical music and theatre. It is bought to you by Opus Arte and Simran Mediatech Ltd. It allows our customers to purchase both traditional CDs and DVDs for delivery by post and to download digital music straight to their computer.

Can I buy individual tracks as well as albums and work?
Yes, you can buy individual digital tracks to download.

What are Cookies? Why do I need them?
Cookies are used for authenticating, tracking, and maintaining specific information about the way you use our website. They are neither spyware nor viruses, they are pieces of text to enable our system to recognise you whenever you return. You should ensure that cookies are accepted and enabled as we use them to allow you to make a purchase and check that our system is working correctly.

How can I search for specific composers /orchestras?
At the top of the page there is a Browse By section. Here you are able to search any genre, composer or artist you wish by filling in the boxes and pressing on the “go” button.

What is DRM? Do you use it?
DRM stands for Digital Rights Management and is a technology that can help protect the copyright of artists and record labels by helping prevent illegal and unauthorised copying. Currently we don’t use it for any of our music downloads, but we may introduce it for some of our services in the future.

What type of computer do I need to download music?
Any type of PC, Mac, Laptop or Netbook are compatible with the requirements of the site and its downloads.

Do I need any kind of licence to manage my music files?
No, you can playback your music wherever you like without a license.

Registration

How do I register?
You can register by clicking on the Register button on the top right hand side of the page or as you go through the order and payment process when purchasing a product.

Why do I have to register?
You need to register in order to purchase and receive products, or to sign up for our newsletter. Registering allows us to save your details for future use to make the process easier and quicker for you.

Is there a subscription fee?
There is NO subscription fee. You only ever pay for your product and the delivery charge if there is one.

I can’t register or login?
If you have problems registering or logging in please contact Customer Service, but make sure that cookies are enabled in your browser first.

I want to change my personal information (email address, shipping address etc). How can I do that?
Once you have signed in to your account, click on My Page and you will see the fields in which you can change the details you desire.

Digital Downloads

How do I download Music?
You can download any music you wish by clicking on the Music section at the top of the page and browse or on any of the albums and tracks displayed in the New Releases or charts sections and pick and choose any track or album you wish. Once you have registered and gone through the payment procedure you will be able to download your music.

Can I preview a download before I decide to buy?
Yes. It is possible to listen to a sample of any download. You can do this by clicking on the small picture of a speaker to the left of your desired download.

How long is a download available to me?
Your download files are available indefinitely. However, once you start downloading a track you will need to complete your download within 14 days. This will give you a chance to ensure that there are no problems and will enable you to download the track again, should the download fail for any reason. Once the download has been completed on your computer, the music is yours to keep forever. We recommend that you back-up your personal Opus Arte downloads.

How long does it take to download a piece of music?
Downloading time mainly depends on the how fast the internet connection is that you are using. The higher your speed is, the faster your downloading will be. For example a 10MB file would take, approximately; 5 seconds at 20Mbps (very fast broadband), 20 seconds at 4Mbps (average broadband), 2 minutes and 40 seconds at 512kbps (slow broadband), 25 minutes at 56kbps (an old modem).

What bitrate are Opus Arte downloads?
All downloads in the Opus Arte store are of variable bitrates which can be up to 320k, however there is no compromise in the audio quality of the downloads. The main advantage of variable bitrates are that they produce a better quality-to-space ratio compared with constant bitrates file of the same size. This means that you still enjoy the highest-possible quality, without having to download unnecessary large files.

What file formats do you sell on Opus Arte?
Opus Arte downloads are high quality MP3 files and so will playback on almost all computers and digital music devices.

Do you offer different digital formats/sizes to download?
Currently we don’t, however we believe the formats we offer provide the best combination of flexible playback and quality on the market.

Can I play the music back on my iPod or mp3 player?
Yes, you can play your downloads on any mp3 player and iPod but you may have to convert the file yourself. With iTunes this is quite simple and can be followed by using iTunes Help.

Help I've deleted the download - can I redownload it?
Once music has been downloaded to your computer or laptop it is your responsibility to back it up. However if you have deleted any by mistake, you can redownload it a limited number of times.

I have a problem downloading the music files.
If a problem still exists after you have repeatedly attempted to download your music, please contact Customer Services.

Will you have more content to download?
We will continuously be updating and adding new releases to the Opus Arte site for purchase and download. Sign up to our Newsletter if you wish to hear about News, New Releases and Offers.

Will I be able to download videos too?
We have a comprehensive collection of Opera, Ballet and Classical performances on digital video coming shortly that you will be able to purchase and download. Sign up to our Newsletter you wish to be informed of any New Video Releases.

Are my downloads saved to my account to download at a later date?
Yes for a limited number of times. They can also be saved to you own PC, Mac, Laptop, Netbook or external hard drive.

CD, DVD’s and Blu-ray

My discs haven't arrived?
If your delivery hasn’t arrived please contact our Customer Services and we will do our best to track your order. Please refer to our T&C’s in reference to refund or loss of products.

I've received the wrong discs.
If you have received the wrong product, this is our fault and will resolve it as soon as possible. Contact Customer Services on how to return the product and we will endeavour to get your product to you as fast as possible.

I have a problem playing my discs.
If the discs are faulty prior to your use, we will provide you with a refund or replacement once the faulty product has been returned and we have verified the fault. Please refer to our T&C’s.

Will my blu-ray play on a normal DVD player?
Blu-ray discs are only compatible with blu-ray players and are therefore not compatible with normal DVD players . However, some new PC’s, Macs, Sony Playstation 3s and laptops do have blu-ray compatible players already installed.

Can I get a refund if my discs don't work and I return them?
If the discs are faulty prior to your use, we will provide you with a refund or replacement once the faulty product has been returned and we have verified the fault. Please refer to our T&C’s.

Order & Payment Procedure

Is the payment process secure?
Yes. The payment process is secure – your details are encrypted using the latest 128-bit SSL encryption at all times. We also do not store your credit card details on our servers once your order payment is approved.

Are my account details private? What do you do with my information?
All your personal details are kept private and will only be used by Opus Arte for processing your order. Full details on this are viewable in our privacy policy. If you want to you can elect to receive further marketing information about promotions and other offers at registration. Your information will be used by Opus Arte to inform you of specific releases related to you and your likes. You can opt out of this at any time in the “my account” section.

Can I add an item to an order I've already made?
No, but you can make as many orders as you like.

Delivery

How do you calculate your postage prices?
Postage prices are based on those provided by the Royal Mail and our third party delivery method. Various shipping options are available at checkout.

Can I insure my deliveries?
We do not explicitly provide insurance for deliveries, however you may be covered under your credit card agreement.

Can I combine more than one order to be shipped together?
Yes. It is possible to order as much as you would like in one order. However, it may not all be delivered at once, depending on product availability.

I live outside of the UK, do you ship internationally?
Yes, we can ship worldwide. However, please do note that postage prices will naturally differ depending on where and how far an item is being delivered to.

Can I receive a different product of the same value if my delivery is faulty etc.?
Yes, a credit note would be offered in these circumstances and you would be free to select another product of the same value.

If I have to return a product, do you pay for postage or provide a method of redelivery?
Yes. We will provide the means to redeliver any faulty products and pay for the postage. You would contact our Customer Service team to arrange this.

Do you deliver to a separate address to that of the customer?
Yes. If you wish to deliver any products as a present or just to a different address to your registered one this is possible.

What method of delivery do you use?
We use Royal Mail and specialist couriers in certain circumstances.

Can I choose the day my delivery will arrive?
Unfortunately we do not currently offer this, however your delivery time is shown clearly at checkout.

Who are Opus Arte?
Opus Arte was established by Managing Director Hans Petri and Television Director Dirk Jan Bijker in 1999. They had an excellent track record in Television production and entertainment and a number of large-scale multimedia projects, such as Bach’s St Matthew Passion and Handel’s Messiah. These programmes have been broadcast in over 60 countries and have won many Awards.

The company releases around thirty DVDs per year, many of which are produced by Opus Arte, into an innovative and rapidly growing market. The management has many years of experience in the industry and has established an excellent relationship with one of the leading organisations in the broadcast and music industry, the BBC.

Does Opus Arte have a weekly newsletter?
Every two weeks Opus Arte sends out a Newsletter informing you of News in the Classical, Opera and Ballet world, as well as New Releases and offers. You can sign up to this during the payment process when you are purchasing a product or by registering at opusarte.com.

What is your policy on age restriction and inappropriate material?
Some material may be deemed offensive and inappropriate. These titles will be clearly indicated and will have the appropriate age restriction.

How can I hear about updates to the site, music releases, offers, etc.?
All this and more is available through the bi-weekly newsletter. You can sign up to this during the payment process when you are purchasing a product or by registering at opusarte.com.

Do you sell tickets? Other merchandise e.g. T-shirts, mugs?
Currently we do not but we will be sure to inform users and visitors to the site if these become available.
