The Classical Brit Awards took place on Thursday May 13th at the Royal Albert Hall in London. The full glittering event will be broadcast on ITV1 on Tuesday May 18th at 10:35pm.
The Classical Brits is now in its 11th year of celebrating the cream of contemporary classical music. Live performances from venerated artists including André Rieu & his Johann Strauss Orchestra and Coldstream Guards Band illustrate the diversity and the talent at work within the field.
The soprano Dame Kiri Te Kanawa was awarded a lifetime achievement award on the night, in honour of a stellar career, debuting as the Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro at the Royal Opera House in 1971 and continuing apace today.

The first ever charity single from the Classical Brits will be available to download from Tuesday night. Nessum Dorma, featuring the vocal talents of Blake, Camilla Kerslake and Howard Goodall’s Enchanted Voices, has been conducted and arranged by Classical BRIT Nominee Howard Goodall and recorded live at the Classical Brit Awards 2010.
Proceeds from the single will be going to The Brit Trust, the UK’s record music industry charity.
