Lauren Cuthbertson (Alice (Alice)); Sergei Polunin (Jack/The Knave of Hearts (Alice)); Edward Watson (Lewis Carroll/The White Rabbit (Alice)); Zenaida Yanowsky (Mother/The Queen of Hearts (Alice)); Steven McRae (Mad Hatter (Alice)); Anna Tsygankova (Cinderella (Cinderella)); Matthew Golding (Prince Guillaume (Cinderella)); Larissa Lezhnina (Stepmother Hortensia (Cinderella)); Megan Zimny Gray (Stepsister Edwina (Cinderella)); Nadia Yanowsky (Stepsister Clementine (Cinderella))

Here in all their whimsy and vivid charm is a pair of fairy-tale masterpieces from choreographer Christopher Wheeldon. His brilliant adaptation of Lewis Carroll's surreal Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, choreographed for The Royal Ballet where he is Artistic Associate, is described by The Times as 'spectacular family entertainment brought to life with enormous theatrical verve'. His innovative reimagining of Cinderella for Dutch National Ballet, to Prokofiev's celebrated and colourful score, give the characters renewed depth and complexity, creating a truly magical experience.

"What a treat this is - such an imaginative treatment of a favourite story. There are extraordinary, eccentric sets and special effects; colourful, larger-than-life, argumentative characters and extraordinary costumes. Lauren Cuthbertson, as Alice, is excellent, her every movement suggesting the actions and emotions of this curious, spirited pre-adolescent... Christopher Wheeldon’s choreography is very imaginative and fitting for every character." (Musicweb International - Alice)

"Christopher Wheeldon goes from strength to strength. His track record at the Royal Ballet is outstanding: a dozen one-act ballets of real distinction; a full-length ballet, Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, that proved to be such a success that it returns in 2013 for a third successive year. And now comes a new co-production for the ballet companies in Amsterdam and San Francisco which proves that the 39-year-old British choreographer truly is at the top of his game... a vibrant piece of theatre and an enchanting love story rolled into a hugely entertaining whole.

Key to the production’s success is the extraordinary stage pictures evoked by the British designer Julian Crouch, here making his first foray into ballet. His sets and costumes consume the stage with mouthwatering candy-coloured frocks, vivid architectural vistas and breathtaking masks that evoke strange creatures of the forest." (The Times - Cinderella)
